Equipment and Facilities

After 16 months, construction on our permanent lab space in 5071 Percival Stern Hall is finally complete.

One major piece of equipment is our LC Technology Solutions glove box. It consists of two separate boxes, each with their own atmospheric purification system, which are connected by a large shared antechamber. Solvent use is allowed in the larger box, which is filled with nitrogen and equipped with a solvent removal system. Inside it is a UV-ozone cleaner and a spin-coating deposition tool. The smaller box is filled with argon, and no solvent use is allowed. It used to be located in a temporary space and was moved to its permanent home in September 2024.
Dynacool PPMS in the lab
The Quantum Design Dynacool PPMS is uncrated and awaiting professional installation. Once operational, it will allow us to characterize electronic, magnetic, and thermodynamic properties at temperatures from 1.8-400 K and at magnetic fields from 0 to ±9 T.
Panalytical Aeris benchtop powder X-ray diffractometer, which is still located in 401 Flower Hall.

Tower of furnaces

Programmable spin-coating deposition system for thin film fabrication on a variety of substrates. This is the cleanest it will ever be.
